LegalWise grew out of a simple observation: anyone who works with laws and contracts spends hours finding the right provision, making sure it is in force, reading the explanatory memorandum and the case law, and checking every reference in a contract. The work is necessary, but much of it repeats. Our aim is to take the routine off your hands, so you have time for decisions, clients and cases.

Why we built LegalWise
Estonian law is public but scattered: statutes in Riigi Teataja, EU law in EUR-Lex, court decisions and memoranda elsewhere. LegalWise brings them into one place and links them: at every section, the memorandum of its change, the case law and its versions.
An answer, a contract review or a draft is not "text" to us but a statement that must be checkable. That is why every statement cites its provision down to the subsection and point, and every answer is checked against its sources before you see it.
LegalWise was developed together with licensed lawyers. They tested answers, contract reviews and documents on real questions and said plainly where something fell short — that is where the checks guarding every answer today came from.
We built LegalWise because we believe that people who work with laws and contracts should not spend hours searching and checking what can be done in seconds — and that a tool which helps them must be as demanding about accuracy as the best lawyer. Every feature has been through lawyers' hands: if it is not accurate, it does not reach you.
The database is updated every night from Riigi Teataja and other official sources.

Truth first
A shorter answer that is right beats a long one that is not. What a source cannot confirm does not stay in the answer.
Every statement with its source
A citation down to the point, a verbatim quotation and a link to the wording — checking takes a second.
Only the law in force
The database is updated every night from official sources. For questions about the past, the wording in force on the chosen date is used.
Your data stays yours
Questions and documents are never used to train models or for advertising; document text is deleted after 30 days and everything can be deleted with one click.
Transparency
We say plainly what the service does and does not do: answers are produced automatically and are general legal information; a person always decides.
Close to our users
Every e-mail reaches us directly. We listen to our users and keep improving the service.
Who we are
LegalWise is provided by the Estonian company ESTERN TECH OÜ. The service is made in Estonia for Estonian and EU law and works in Estonian, Russian and English.
We develop it together with licensed lawyers — their experience helped decide what to check and how, so that the result is genuinely useful in daily work.
