Word add-inLegalWise for Word
Review a contract where you write it. LegalWise reads the open document, checks it against Estonian and EU law and adds its findings as Word comments right on the clauses they concern. The document text is never changed.
Review contract
Each problematic clause gets a comment: what is wrong, under which provision (down to subsection and point, with a verbatim quote) and how to word it. A comment is added only where the clause text is found in the document word for word.
Check citations
Every reference in the document – „TLS § 97 lg 2 p 3“, „võlaõigusseaduse §-s 106“, „GDPR Article 17“ – and every quotation is checked against the law in force: ✓ in force, ⚠ could not verify, ✗ repealed or no such subsection. A click takes you to the reference in the document.
Insert provision
Type „TLS § 88 lg 1“ – see the wording in force and insert it at the cursor as a quotation with its Riigi Teataja citation.
Ask
Select a passage, add a question and continue in the LegalWise chat, where the answer is grounded in the law in force and cites its sources.
Installation step by step
Word in the browser (office.com) is the easiest. Install it once — from then on LegalWise is there in every document.

Download the file
Click “Download manifest.xml” on this page. The file only describes the add-in; none of your data is in it.
Your firm's IT administrator can install the add-in for everyone at once (Microsoft 365 admin center → Integrated apps) — then steps 1–5 are done and each person only connects their account.
Installation
- Download the add-in file manifest.xml (button below).
- In Word (Word on the web, Microsoft 365 or Word 2021) open Home → Add-ins → More add-ins → My add-ins → Upload My Add-in and choose the downloaded file.
- A „LegalWise“ button appears on the Home tab. Open the pane and click „Connect to LegalWise“.
Requires Word 2021, Microsoft 365 or Word on the web and a LegalWise account. Contract review is part of the Jurist plan.
For the whole firm at once
Your firm's Microsoft 365 administrator can deploy the add-in to everyone with the same file (admin center → Integrated apps → Upload custom apps). Each user then connects their own LegalWise account.
Connecting your account
„Connect to LegalWise“ opens a window where you confirm the connection to your account. The add-in receives a personal key that you can see and revoke at any time in Settings. The add-in never sees your password.
Your data
For a contract review the document is sent to LegalWise just like an upload: its text is erased after 30 days and you can delete the report yourself. Citation checks and provision lookups do not use your plan's document limit.
